On the Painting and the Subject...
"Barrio" was painted in historic Barrio Santa Rosa,
in downtown Tucson, AZ near the modern convention center. Painting in a public/residential/historic location such as this always asks for dialog with passersby.

Not only did I learn the history of the old adobe I chose to depict, but also a priceless first hand story
of what the barrio was like 70 years ago – from an individual who had evidently managed to continue living at that location for that long.
A delightful afternoon indeed.
